Determine Suitability of an Outdoor Space

Safety Matters – How can we tell if an outdoor space is suitable for a BBQ?
Safety is the primary force behind Claytons Alfresco BBQs being designed for use outdoors under cover. So, it is necessary to evaluate your desired BBQ location for suitability prior to installation. As per our Safety Considerations, the minimum requirements must be met. Please use the diagrammatical representations here as a guide to determine the suitability of your outdoor space for the safe use of the Claytons Alfresco BBQ product.
Open Outdoor Areas

Suitable
ONLY suitable for a Claytons Alfresco BBQ that does NOT include electrical appliances.

Unsuitable
This type of open area is NOT suitable for a Claytons Alfresco BBQ installation that includes an electrical appliance such as a beverage cooler.

Suitable
This area is under cover and has two open sides that air circulates through so, it is suitable for a Claytons Alfresco BBQ installation.

This area is under cover and has two open sides that air circulates through so, it is suitable for a Claytons Alfresco BBQ installation.
Enclosed Outdoor Areas

Unsuitable
Even though the BBQ pictured is close to the opening of the enclosure it does not allow for sufficient ventilation and is considered an indoor space. Therefore, it is NOT suitable for installation of the Claytons Alfresco BBQ.

Suitable
This partially enclosed area has at least 25% of wall area open and at least 30% of remaining wall opening that is unrestricted so, it is suitable for a Claytons Alfresco BBQ installation.

Unsuitable
The single wall opening shown in this enclosed area is not large enough to offer sufficient ventilation so, it is considered an indoor space. Therefore, it is NOT suitable for installation of the Claytons Alfresco BBQ.

Suitable
This partially enclosed area has at least 25% of wall area open and at least 30% of remaining wall opening that is unrestricted so, it is suitable for a Claytons Alfresco BBQ installation.
Combustible Materials

Unsuitable
Shown is an incorrect BBQ installation against a glass window. When the Claytons Alfresco BBQ is installed the BBQ appliance must be at least 450mm away from combustible materials such as glass, timber and other hazardous items.

Suitable
Shown is the correct positioning of the BBQ away from a glass window and any hazardous items.
